AMSTERDAM

Amsterdam viser denne sommer en liten eksklusiv utstilling med 100 kunstnerisk bearbeidede og bemalete elefantfigurer alle i en liten elefantunge størrelse som er plassert overalt i byen. I tillegg kan hvem som helst kjøpe med seg hjem kopier i mindre og mindre størrelser. Dette er en populær og opplivende utstilling som mange både voksne og ikke minst barn gleder seg over.

Museums in Amsterdam are among the main tourist attractions. The Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum are the most popular choices, but there are many, many more. Amsterdam has over fifty museums, which attract millions of visitors every year. Alongside the wealth of magestic Golden Age paintings, you’ll find exciting modern art, press, film, theatre and photography museums and some unique Dutch treats like the Heineken Experience, the Ajax Museum and the Houseboat museum
. And Amsterdam wouldn’t be Amsterdam without the likes of the Sex, Erotic, Hash or Torture museums. 

We enjoyed visiting some of the many museums during a visit and too enjoyed what was going on in the open air, such as the exhibition of 100 elefants painted in many different ways.

OBAMA 

Blant de forskjellige bemalinger kan vi oppleve alt fra et president Obama liknende uttrykk, det Amerikanske flagg, polkadott, grafiske, orientalske og helt grå, transparente over til alle mulige og umulige delikate fantasi varianter. – And now Obama shall get the Nobel Peace Prize a good choise of the Nobel Committee.

RIKJSMUSEUM

Another highlight is the Rikjsmuseum. Right now a lot of the museum is locked for restauration but during that periode the museum has collected a miniselcetionof their highlights which is absolutely fantastic, and a big experience. As, in fact, not so many tourists has the time to spend hours and days at the museum during a few days stay in Amsterdam therefore this exhibition is a representative presentation of high lights.

– This building periode gives in addition the Rijksmuseum the possibility to send some parts of its exhibition on tour so right now, in Paris, it is possible to enjoy highlights from its collection called from Rembrandt to Vermeer and others in Pinacotheque in Paris.

Neighbor to  Rijks Museum is the Van Gogh museum which presents many of the Van Gogh highlights, and it looked to be a very popular exhibition and for us, it was of course great to enjoy the original highlights live, but in the same hous ewe found another great exhibition guesting:

ALFRED STEVENS

Beautiful paintings of elegant womens. For us this was the ighlight, as it is an exhibition where the painting quality gave us some thing extraordinary, and in addition it was delicious presented, in cooperation with a  museum in Bruxelles.

KARETEN

The tourists don’t need to go to a museum to get an “art” impression one thing is the beautiful city Amsterdam with all the canals reminding us of Venezia but even more beautiful. We experienced a tour through the city with old horse carets which had their tour, and we too think that it was a competition of which one in each class was best.

BAD HOTEL AND RESTAURANT STANDARD

A beautiful city, but the hotel prices were much too high in the city center; the standard of the hotels and some of the restaurants was bad, and the bars primitive. The tourist association has a job to do there, if not the tourists will move to another capital, if the standard is being kept so bad. Of course we observed too some very expensive 3 and 4 stars hotels and restaurants in the same high price level, but for the “ordinary” tourist these were priced too high. – But the staff we meet has the right service minded attitude, and gave many positive signals. And you were feeling very welcome in Amsterdam. – Of course we bought tulips for the garden!
