MUNICH/GERMANY: Lenbachhaus museum situated in center of Munich in the so-called Museum area, is in addition to all their “own” star painters and guests from many places, not to forget several russians, who cameo Munich in Der Blaue Reiter periode, too has an excellent collection of paintings by the famouse danish painter Asger Jorn.

In fact it was a bit strange, in the middle of this very international star show to meet only two danes exposed, and in fact I didn’t notice on the walls any from the other Nordic countries, but I might not have noticed them
. The only three danes was Asger Jorn, presented with a whole line of very interesting paintings, and one singel portrait bust of King Ludwig II by Bertel Thorvaldsen.

And during our visit we found the garden full of sculptures, where we even found another danish sculptures Per Kirkeby presented with “Torso”.

Asger Jorn (1914-1973) is present with Too much talk – “Man spright so viel” from 1968, oil on canvas. Asger Jorn was cofounder of the group COBRA, whose members proposed to placate process of painting front and center in their work. They rejected what they described as formalism and élite intellectualism and called for spontanity, artistic experimentation , and expressive color.

– The painterly gestures were to be recognizable as such in the finished canvas, engaging attentive beholder in a co-creative process. As how this “Too much talk” is a good example of.

The aspiration to achieve a more immediate artistic expression spurred a growing interest in folk arts as well as the paintings of children and mental patients, in conjunction with a return to figurative painting.

Another interesting motive is the “Modification of two penguins”  1962, a large Oil on canvas picture, that the Museum achieved in 1981, where Jorn around two  good portraits, I am sure of two famouse personalities has moderated in to a caricature of two penguins.

Furthermore the two: “The evil Year” – “Das Böse Jahr” 1963, achieved 1978 and “They never come back” – “Sie kommen niemals zurück” from 1958, achieved 1982. This shows clearly how awake the leadership of Lenbachhaus was to get in interesting quality artists from other countries.
