During the summer/autumn season the modern art/design museum, situated kn the Former Jacobine church in Agen has an interesting exhibition from modern design/ mdern art/ industridesign presenting artists form the Aquitane area.

Interesting in the way the exhibition, curated by Marie-Dominique Niviere, conservator at the museum in Agen, where. She has brought together 270 pieces by 40 designers.  Her idea is to present designers resident in the Aquitane region, or who has been working in the region for a periode, and putting this together with pieces from the museums own collection. Furthermore, since to day many desiners are both working in the design field, the artist field, and even as industrial designers at the same time, this is the inspiration of showing this exhibition, with contacts in to and between all these threee main fields in the same direction.

To use the Former Jacobine church in Agen as exhibition place has of course a background history:

In the context of this exhibition, the museum has Agen, on 650 m2 of the Jacobins church, a magnificent example of Gothic architecture of the thirteenth century, a gathering of more than 260 works in the fields of furniture, tableware, lighting … from40 designers.

This is the first time, in fact, that takes place in a museum exhibition of Aquitaine design of this importance, the number of designers represented and the number of exhibits.

Please enjoy the photo serie of a large collection of the exhibited pieces.
