HAMBURG/GERMANY: At today’s press conference in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg Christoph Lieben-Seutter, General and Artistic Director of the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle, and Jack F. Kurfess, Financial Director, presented the concert and education programme of the Elbphilharmonie Konzerte 2015/2016.

In the final season before the Elbphilharmonie opens, Christoph Lieben-Seutter continues to develop and refine the musical profile of the future Elbphilharmonie and the traditional Laeiszhalle
. »For every one of our concert series we have selected musicians who put their musical creativity only into projects they genuinely believe in – authentic, uncompromising personalities, who time and again give the music on stage a refreshing potency and contemporary expression«, announced the General Director. With an exciting programme of classical, jazz, world and electronic music, three festivals,multifaceted individual presentations and an extensive education programme, the Elbphilharmonie Konzerte and Elbphilharmonie Kompass already play a major role in the city’s cultural scene.
Magdalena Kožená and Patricia Kopatchinskaja – two of the most charismatic musicians of our time – are Artists in Residence in the 2015/2016 season, while the Jerusalem Quartet builds on the success of its Shostakovich Project with a new programme devoted to the string quartets of Béla Bartók. The series »Nordic Concerts« has been given a new focus: For the first time it features only period instrument ensembles, led by distinguished conductors including Sir John Eliot Gardiner,Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Teodor Currentzis. This season sees the return of the series»Opera in Concert« with four exceptional projects, whilst the well-established ProArte series »International Soloists« is presented for the first time in cooperation with Elbphilharmonie Konzerte
. The »Greatest Hits« festival gains an additional strong partner with the series »NDR das neue werk«, and the highly popular »ePhil« concerts move to a new location, the resonanzraum St. Pauli. The climax of the season is undoubtedly the Hamburg International Music Festival in early summer 2016, when the city’s leading orchestras and concert promoters once again join forces to provide a month of unforgettable musical highlights.
