OSLO: It became a memorable operaevening at the Norwegian National Opera, when their outstanding wonderful lyric dramatic soprano through very many years, Itziar Martinez Galdos, sung her last “normal” operaperformance, wonderful was she as Lady Macbeth at Giuseppe Verdis opera Macbeth, at the operahouse in Oslo, January 10th. 2012.

Itziar Galdos was at her very best in the demanding dramatic role as Lady Macbeth. I had the feeling this special evening, that her wonderful voice, which for me is perfect for the role as Lady Macbeth, was loaded with even more deep feeled sentimentality and power this evevning. Her voice was shining on top of all the ensembles and in cooperation with her good baryton, Claudio Sgura, as Macbeth

. It was a goodbye from her heart. And we will remember her.

As Macduff we enjoyed the swedish tenor Daniel Johansson as we now also  enjoys  as Rodolphe in La Boheme. Magne Fremmerlid was outstanding as Banquo, I dint recgnize him imeditately and was thinking, where have they found this wonderful bass?

For those of us who have had the great pleasure to follow Itiziar through all her carriere at the Norwegian Opera, it has been a long pleasure to enjoy all her outstanding roles, from whole opera and operetta repertoir, we have allways been sure that when she came on stage, it would be good. She has the personality to create a role, in the one side she has the sweatness for the sweet roles, and she has the dramatic power and intencity when needed. In addition to her opera carriere she has also been active with concerts, and personally I have been were happy to enjoy her romances, and of course her outstanding performances of the Lullaby songs – Cinco canciones negras (1945) (Five black songs) by the Spanish Catalan composer Xavier Montsalvatge, that she has been introduced to and instructed to by mr. Montsalvatge him self in her home city, the beautiful San Sebastian, situated at the seaside by the Pyreneers mountains in northern Spain. I still remember when I first time heard them at a concertroom at Majorstua, before Itziar was getting her contract with the norwegian opera.
