The companys Romeo and Juliet is brilliant, choreographed by Boris Mjagkow, with two different casts in the leading roles, of which we very much enjoyed the virtuose Nurlan Kanetov and beautiful Kristina Andreeva as Romeo and Julie at Theatre Alexander Dumas in Saint Germain-en-Laye on Friday evening.

– It was the first evening in the theatre after it has been locked for nearly one week due to the terror attacks in central Paris. The theatre was completely full of excited audience, who really wanted to show that they was not affraid of enjoyng a large cultural event together. And didn´t want to let their life be spoiled for the future.

In addition to Nurlan Kanetov and Kristina Andreeva as Romeo and Julie, we very much enjoyed the powerfull and virtuose Maxim Potseluiko and Oleg Ivenko in the demanding roles as Tybalt and Mercutio, their fights seems real and we could understand the jalousy and the hate between them, it became real to the audience, and in addition they presented beautiful dance, and so did Ivan Onufriev as Benvolio and Anton Polodyuk as Prince Paris.

Julies parents was great performed by Alina Shteynberg and Gleb Korablev. Furthermore i enjoyed the nurse for Julie, but I didn´t get her name.

The music on tape function very well, but of course a life orchestra would have been better, but to let such a large company with app. 60 dancers tour, the cost of a life orchestra would do the touring impossible because of the huge ecpenses for a large orchestra as needed to play Sergei Prokofievs music for Romeo and Juliet and Peter Tsjaikovskijs music for The Swanlake, which is the other production, which is with the company at this tour.

I enjoyrd the well functioning scenography, who was made so it functioned well, and could be enlarged or maked slimmer or deeper, comparing to the digferent stages on tour, good with small light changes and extra back curtains for the last act. The costumes was outstanding, very rich for the official parts of the performance with the Capulet and Montaigu families, and simpler, but not too simpel for the daily events on the open squares in old Verona
. Where the history according to the William Shakespeare history is going on.

Romeo og Julie Ballet de Opera Kazan

Last season the company was praised  for its beautiful Gisele, the ballet of the Kazan State Opera, is considered one of the best balletcompanies in the Russian Federation together with the Kirov in St. Petersburg and Moscow Bolshoi, returns in 2015 to present Romeo and Juliet, and also The Swanlake.

A balletcompany with 65 dancers and stars for an outstanding representation of the story of two young lovers, Romeo and Juliet, from the two famouse Verona families the Capulets and the Montagues,  whose death reconciling their families.

This season they are two different casts as Romeo and Juliet. These radically different choreographies in their design and the choice of performers will take you to the diversity and the requirement of choreography. However to me the choreography to Boris Mjagkow functions very well, he is using the music good, and giving all the dancers in the demanding roles a lot to play on, and making each their characters, so you trust in them, and furthermore letting all the dance, and fights move good together. The Pavane was a hit with all its detailes, and so was the famouse Balcony Scene between Romeo and Julie. Last but not least the exiting, dramatic fight between Tybalt and Mercutio.
