This year Les Ballets Russes are being celebrated in many parts of the world.

LES BALLET RUSSES:

One of the highlights so far has been LES BALLETS RUSSES IN CONCERT with SAINT PETERSBURG PHILHARMONIQUE ORCHESTRA at Theatre des Champs Élysées in Paris. Three evenings in cold november with wonderful ballet music related to Les Ballets Russes.

The programme included Tchaikovsky: The Swan Lake. Rimski-Korsakov: Sheherazade. Stravinskys three famouse pieces: The Rite of Spring, The Firebird and Petrouchka. In addition the orchestra was performing two violin concertos, Tchaikovsky´s and Prokofievs no 2 with the brilliant violinsoloist Sergej Krylov, he too brilliantly played the violinsolo in Sheherazade.

Other events this year in France are: The Ballets Russes exposition at The Library at Palais Garnier, which opened a few days ago, 24th November-24th May 2010.

The Operas of Ballet Russes exposition at The National Centre in Moulins opening 12th December until  May 10th 2010.

Premiere of Les Ballets Russes Ballet at Palais Garnier 12th december 09, with a galla including famous guestsoloists from the Bolshoi Ballet, Moscow the 16th. Presenting La Spectre de la Rose, A Fauns afternoon, The Three Cornered Hat and Petrouschka.  www.operadeparis.fr

ABROAD: In Monaco The Monte Carlo Ballet is having a whole festival Festival to celebrate the close connections etween Les Ballets Russes, Dhiaghilev and the Garnier opera house in Monte Carlo

Sweden: Dansmuseet (Dancemuseum) in Stockholm is presenting an exposition of costumes which started allready 29th May 09: BALLETS RUSSES IN PARIS 1909 – 2009 .

 

 

 

An Isadora Duncan exposition at Musée Bourdelle in Paris is presenting the close relations between Les Ballets Russes and Isadora Duncan, and showing some wonderful scetches that Antoine Bourdelle has done of Isadora Duncan and Nijinsky. Dansmuseet celebrates the centenary with a colourful exhibition of costumes from its world famous collection from this epoch. All the major pictorial artists of its time flocked around the Diaghilev ballet. www.dansmuseet.se To this expostion a new book has come:

 In London the Wictoria & Albert Museum is presenting Dhiaghilev and Ballets Russes next year, starting September 25th and until January 16th 2011.

In Moscow The Trekiakov State Gallery is presenting an exposition between October 28 to January 31, named VISION OF DANCE. To the 100 anniversary of “Russian ballets” of Serge Dyagilev in Paris.

In 2009 and 2010, there is celebrating the Centenary of the Ballets Russes with events devised by the Nouveau Musee National de Monaco, Cultural Foundation “EKATERINA”.

Coproduced by the State Tretyakov gallery, Nouveau Musee National de Monaco and the Ekaterina Cultural Foundation in Moscow exhibition-tribute to Serge Diaghilev officially opened in October.

Will be shown works, sketches of Bakst, Benois, N. Gontcharova, M. Larionov and over 50 original scenic suits.

To recreate atmosphere of Diaghilev’s performances will allow vintage photo and video installation with newsreel use where stars of ballet A.Pavlova, V.Nizhinsky, M.Fokin, T.Karsavina are embodied.
