PARIS/FRANCE: Sarah Connolly and Robert Dean-Smith celebrated la human communion with nature in the “Chant de la Terre de Mahler” – Das Lied vorn der Erde at Théâtre des Champs Élysées monday evening 26th

. October.

By again meeting this outstanding young conductor, I would like to remind you of what our editor Henning Høholt wrote in 2013 after a Mahler concert, here in Paris at Théâtre des Champs Élysées, with this brilliant leading orchestra and its leader mr
. Nezet-Séguin:

“By meeting the young conductor Yannick Nezet-Seguin on this special occassion, we have (perhaps) enjoyed a special evening with one of the really coming big conductor stars in the world.”

Beethoven  Symphonie n° 6 « Pastorale »
Mahler  Das Lied von der Erde (Le Chant de la Terre) by Gustav Mahler.  The talented conductor and chief of Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, that we have enjoyed many times in Paris,  Yannick Nézet-Séguin, put on the bucolic tones with the cycle of Earth Song echoing the pastoral symphony No. 6 Beethoven. After composing his Eighth Symphony, Mahler, superstition, tried to avoid using the new figure for the next – no composer, nor Beethoven or Schubert Bruckner, having survived a ninth symphony! This cycle of Lieder orchestral therefore took the title of Song of the Earth but many states as a true symphonic composition, and one of the most successful musician by achieving harmony between voice and orchestral writing.
Das Lied von der Erde (“The Song of the Earth”) is a composition for two voices and orchestra by the Austrian composer Gustav Mahler between 1908 and 1909.
The work was described as a symphony when published, and it comprises six songs for two singers who take turns singing the songs
. Mahler specified the two singers should be a tenor and an alto, or else a tenor and a baritone
if an alto is not available.
The work was composed following the most painful period in Mahler’s life, and the songs address themes such as those of living, parting and salvation

doctors had never asked them about their sexualalways or buy viagra.

. On the centenary of Mahler’s birth, the composer, conductor, and I can only agree with the well known Mahler conductor Leonard Bernstein who described Das Lied von der Erde as Mahler’s “Greatest symphony”.

Text in Das Lied von der Erde
“Das Trinklied vom Jammer der Erde” (“The Drinking Song of Earth’s Misery”
“Der Einsame im Herbst” (“The Lonely One in Autumn”)
“Von der Jugend” (“Of Youth”)
“Von der Schönheit” (“Of Beauty”)
“Der Trunkene im Frühling” (“The Drunken Man in Spring”)
“Der Abschied” (“The Farewell”)
