Richard Strauss Days 2015
October, 16th to 25th 2015
With Christian Thielemann, Soile Isokoski, Waltraud Meier, Camilla Nylund, Anne Schwanewilms, Iréne Theorin, Kurt Rydl, Bo Skovhus et al.
DRESDEN/GERMANY: The strong connection between Richard Strauss and Dresden is illustrated by the fact that nine of the composer’s 15 operas were premiered here under music directors Ernst von Schuch, Fritz Busch and Karl Böhm
. For this reason the Semperoper Dresden once again invites audiences to attend a »Richard Strauss Days« in 2015, when from 16 to 25 October the Semperoper and the Staatskapelle Dresden present a brilliant programme of Straussian works performed by an array of stars.
Thus Iréne Theorin sings the title role in Barbara Frey’s production of the opera »Elektra« together with Camilla Nylund as Chrysothemis, while Anne Schwanewilms can be enjoyed on two festival evenings as the eponymous heroine of »Arabella« under the musical direction of Christian Thielemann. The Staatskapelle Dresden will perform Strauss’s »Alpine Symphony«, also under the baton of Christian Thielemann. Featuring an exquisite lieder recital with Soile Isokoski and a chamber recital, this year’s »Richard Strauss Days« is certain to be a very special highlight of 2015
.
