Rotterdams Philharmonic in Paris
Rotterdams Philharmonie in Paris

PARIS/FRANCE: Once again a welcome visit from the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra led by Yannick Nezet-Seguin, presenting Mozarts 27 piano concerto with Nicholas Angelich as soloist and Anton Bruckner 4th
. Symphony – “Romantic” at Theatre des Champs Élysees.
With feeling and musicality Nicholas Angelich made Mozarts 27th piano concerto to something extraordinary
. It has a lot of beautiful themes, that mr
. Angelich underlined delicately, the orchestra followed like it was nearly one instrument, extraordinary well.
ROMANTIQUE symphony by Anton Bruckner
It became a second highlight this evening. Also full of themes, but in another way than Mozart, many excellent solo players, led by the 1st. Horn. The tempo became rather slow, but my feeling was that it was a good tempo, however it was more than 10 minutes longer than the ideal time -65 minutes.
I could feel that the audience, who at the same evening also could have chosen London Symphonic Orchestra at Philharmonie, were very happy that they had choosen the Rotterdam Philharmonic this evening, as this can’t be played any better.
In fact, that is something we have learned. That with Yannick Nezet-Seguin at the podium, we can expect a great concert evening.
