GOTHENBURG/SWEDEN: This season’s theme of the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani is WONDERLAND – Weird and Wonderful. They aim to create a season with its own wonderland, holding good and evil, realism and surrealism, humor and horror, as well as utopias and dystopias. Anton Lachky creates A´s Adventures in Wonderland

In A’s Adventures, Slovakian choreographer Anton Lachky plays with inspiration from Alice in Wonderland. He paints a fantastic universe filled with dance among dark forests, icebergs and toilets. The pace is fast and the expression humoristic, poetic and physical. The Göteborg Opera Orchestra plays Mozart, Bach and Haydn under the selection of Max Renne. On stage is also mezzo soprano Lena Haselmann.

Ina Christel Johannessen creates Wasteland

In Wasteland, Norwegian Ina Christel Johannessen has a whole different approach to the wonderland theme, when she depicts our escalating consumption. A wasteland created of what we leave behind in pursuit of our dreams

. In an abandoned and decayed place – perhaps an old warehouse – the dancers interact with both set design and music. Belgian duo Stray Dogs perform live from their album Wasteland.
