The new production of Il Trittico, – Il Tabarro, Sister Angelica and Gianni Schici, by Giacomo Puccini, in a co production with Opera della Scala, Milano is musically of highest possible standard, musically well conducted by Philippe Jourdan.

With a line of good singers in the three different operas, headed by an outstanding Juan Pons as Michele in Il Tabarro and in the titelrole as Gianni Schicci, where he is getting the possibility to perform two completely different sides of his big talent.

Vocally highlights was Tamar Iveri as Sister Angelica, Luciana d´Intino as the Princess both in Sister Angelica, and Saimir Pirgu as Rinuccio and Marta Moretto as Zita, Moretto with a wonderful mimic, that I even could see at the 18th line in the large Bastille Opera hall, these singers was outstanding for me. But as mentioned many times earlier. The casting departement is doing a good job, and are finding great singers with many talents in addition only to sing, which, for me, is very important as they too are performing a story.

In Il Tabarro we enjoyed Maeco Berti as Luigi and Sylvie Valayre as Giorgetta, and again Marta Moretto, which was wonderful as Zita in Ganni Schicci. And the good deep bass Mario Luperi as Il Talpa, who too was singing Simone in Gianni Schicci. Ekaterina Syurina was performing the “O mio babbino caro” aria beautifully as Lauretta
. And, as usual was the only one who got applause for her solo in Il Trittico.
