PARIS: MOZART FESTIVAL OPENING:

Once again at Théâtre des Champs Elysees, Good voices in an operaproduksjon. This time Idomeneo, which was premiered June 15th 2011. with the wonderful tenor Richard Croft in the titelrole. It was outstanding. The audience believed in him.

Stéphane Braunschweig is responsible for regi, scénographie and Thibault Vancranbroeck for costumes, while Marion Hewlett has made the lightdesign. They all received BUUH from the audience. Well what they all had done was not so bad, actually i liked the framing in the scénographie, which made beautiful sceneries, I to feel that the regi was helping forming the history telling well, but by seeing the opera, i didn´t understand the istory if I have not seen it before or read the history in the programme. The uptoday costumes were ok, but when the High priest and his group is coming on stage, then we are in another world. These costumes looked nice, but it was from another costume world, and it didn´t work out in this performance. I suppose that the BUUH was for the outlook, and that they have played the old history in modern costumes, which didn´t have contact to the history

. The wooden look walls, gave a nice warm feeling to the whole stage, and was framing the pictures. But didn´t tell or give any feeling of here the history was going on, in what periode, and not at all following up the texting. – Therefore it is difficult to have an idea of what history they wanted to tell.
