The talent of this young virtuoso has been acknowledged at many international competitions: the “International Summit Music Competition” in New York, the “International Young Violin Competition” in Greece, and the “WestLB Music Competition and Instrument Award 2006”. Guadagnini, Parma 1761, for which he exchanged his Stradivarius.
In 2007, Mr. Gilmans debut-CD was released on OehmsClassics. The leading classic magazine “The Strad” called the CD superb while other German major magazines like “FonoForum” and “Ensemble” were calling his CD a successful or a fantastic debut.
Alexander Gilman started playing violin at the age of six and performed his concert debut at the Gasteig in Munich when he was seven. He studied with many famous teachers: Dorothy DeLay at the Juilliard School, Itzhak Perlman, Aaron Rosand, Igor Ozim, Valery Gradow, Akiko Tatsumi, Mikhail Kopelman and Zakher Bron, who also taught such stars as Maxim Vengerov and Vadim Repin.
