The mature years. Beginning with a wave of creators advocating minimalist forms such as Azzedine Alaïa, Yohji Yamamoto, Helmut Lang and Martin Margiela, the decade continued with designers with a taste for provocation, ornament and pomp, epitomised by John Galliano for Christian Dior and Vivienne Westwood.

What is specially interesting by the fashion and mode exhibitions at Musée des Arts Decorative is that they have a very hogh an professinal exhibition making competance in that museum house. The exhibition “History of Fashion contemporary ideal” continues with the second part covering the years 1990-2000. After decades of unbridled creation of a company celebration, 1990-2000, influenced by sociological events of the era, marked a radical change where the interests of creators is not the body itself but rather its identity.
We are also seeing the professionalization of the sector and we speak now the fashion industry with the emergence of artistic directors at the helm of old couture houses become real monopolies luxury.
