Maria de Buenos Aires in Norway
Review and photos by Henning Høholt
OSLO/NORWAY: It was an extraordinary good and emotionl evening at the Operahouse in Oslo when Astor Piazzolla´s operetta Maria de Buenos Aires, for the first time was performed at the Opera main stage.
Per Arne Glorvigen, bandoneon and leader of the performance, has put together a mixed ensemble with outstanding Argentinean musician, dancers, singers together with an as outstanding group of Norwegian musicians with a special love for and knowledge about the tango music and the lovely music and atmosphaere in the music by Astor Piazzolla.
Glorvigen, and his idea, to present this very little known operetta by Piazzolla to an international audienc with a tourneee, as far as i understand starting in Norway, that is the one side of this production. Another thing is that through his own virtuosity, musicality and knowledge he gave the audience that filled up the big hall at the Operahouse an extraordinay evening
.
He has invited the outstanding mezzosoprano Julia Zenko, the tenor Danial Amaro. The dancers Sofia Saborido and Pablo Inza, and last but not least Carlos Alberici as the story teller, well functioning musically in combination with the whole ensemble.
Furthermore the whole group: Sverre Indris Joner, virtuose at the piano. Steinar Haugeru
d at bass, Oskar Sletfjerding flutes, Miki Campins on a lot of percussion instruments, sometimes playing three percussion instrumnets at the same time, and Harald Kvasnes, guitar. The Ålesund String Quartett was lifting the whole production tio a higher level: Ai-Ling Chiu and Ove Kvangarsnes, violin, Linda Bønes, bratch and Samuel Skrede, cello the last with good soli.
The extra big pleasure and surprise was the following participants in this production:
DANIEL AMARO: A wonderful tenor. living in Bergen, Norway, but originally from Montevideo in Uruguay
. I cant remember that I ever have heard such a beautiful male singer, with so great expression, in such a demanding field
to spend viagra online current sexual difficulties?”.
. Extraordinary. A great pleasure. Bravo.
AI-LING CHU: The brilliant 1.st violinist from the good Ålesund String Quartett. Her playing of all the difficult and demanding soli was outstanding, these part is knovn for the international audiance after Gideon Kremer´s playing of them. I must admit, that to me, Ai-Ling Chin did it outstanding.
HARALD KVASNES: An outstanding musically very wellformed job as guitarist, with a special musical feeling for the difficult job to form all the soloparts surronding around other soloists, and develope the whole deliciouse feeling in this demanding music, furthermore, in the next second to fall in to the rhytmically soundeffects. Excellent made.
