Trespass: A History of illicit street art

Graffiti art and unofficial, of local origin to a global phenomenon

In recent years, street art has become bolder, more ornate, more sophisticated and – in many cases – more acceptable. But public art Unofficial remains the enfant terrible of cultural expression, the last visual field off-the-law. It also became a global phenomenon in the twenty-first century.
Produced in collaboration with the artists presented, Trespass examines the rise and global influence of graffiti and street art by returning to the key figures, events and movements of expression, as well as the history of reappropriation of urban space, contestation and illegal urban performance. First book to scan the entire history of street art movement and to show the global influence and technological change, Trespass presents key works of 150 artists, links between four generations of off-the-law visionary as Jean Tinguely, Spencer Tunick, Keith Haring, Os Gemeos, Jenny Holzer, Barry McGee, Gordon Matta-Clark, Shepard Fairey, Blu, Billboard Liberation Front, the Guerrilla Girls and Banksy, among others. It also includes dozens of rare photographs of works long gone and works as legendary urban ephemeral.

You will also discover:
• Some new images of street art by Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat
• unpublished photographs by Martha Cooper, became the benchmark by Subway Art
• Exclusive photos from personal archives of the selected artists
• Tests incisive Anne Pasternak (director of public art fund for Creative Time) and civil lawyer Tony Serra
