Venue: Norwegian Opera House (Oslo)
9 Nov: DanseFestival (Barents)
There are always obscure spaces to be found where the city meets the forest. People often meet in such spaces during the period of transition between day and night
. Over the shoulder one can perhaps glimpse the lights from the houses behind, facing the dark forest. The forest is the fertile site for disappearance and resurrection, for ritual and decay. At this threshold, at the edge of the forest, transactions between human beings are often carried out: here sexuality is at stake, but also identity − in the transition between regulation and the unknown. Here social codes encounter bestiality.
Ingun Bjørnsgaard often stages her fumbling, brutish and beautiful characters in the moment of their transversing these bound aries between being restrained and the spectacular. Here they get lost in such a place, taken prisoner by their own shadows.
