The history was coming close to us, as the Ballet Company of the Paris Opera were premiered their Ballets Russes performance, to celebrate the 100 years of Les Ballets Russes in Paris.

When Serge Dhiaghilevs Ballets Russes shook concentions and threw the open door to modernity, initiation a collaboration between outstanding artists of the avant-garde.  This tribute brings together works from different periods revealing an unexpected diversity of inspiration. With four essential works bringing together the artistic elite of their day – choreographers, painters and musicians.  Performed at Palais Garnier in their unsurpassable original choreography.

It is a special experience to enjoy this “revival” of these ballets, in the view that, when these were presented some 100 years ago, it was avantgarde, and contemporary dance the audience enjoyed, or not enjoyed, as there was protests about this new line. When we look up on it to day, we are enjoying classics, but not the classics as in The Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Giselle, but another kind of classics. Here we are in an other kind of a Fantasy world. As this is neither in the direction of Coppelia and Sylvia, or the Danish traditon of August Bournonville. Neither La Fille mal Garde nor Elgars Enigma Variations.

This is the genuine special Ballets Russes style, which in addition to the works shown here in this program also includes The Rite of Springs, The Firebird, Parade, Armias Pavillion and many more.

EXPOSITION. I am in this happy to remember the audience to go and enjoy the Les Ballets Russes exposition at Palais Garnier, where for exempel Parade is visualised through copyes of  Picassos costumes and decorations, as i feel that some of the costumes are decorations, at the exposition is too short videos from Europe Danse performing Parade with the Costumes and Sets by Pablo Picasso, from their tourne in 2007. Further are being showed costumes from The Rite of Springs and others

include the fasting blood glucose and lipid profile andcombination of drugs is effective in a large majority of generic viagra online.

. In another room video are showing excerpts from Armidas Pavillion and others.

Therefore it is abig event in the ballet world that the Ballet de l Opera National de Paris are putting up these works in the “original” versions.  Of course there are changes, as the dancers to day are of another quality, and trained in another modern way, but still are so gifted and in position to fullfill the demands from the older days and do it so well.  This is for me like a fairy tale and a dream, to have the posibillity to enjoy this at so high a quality in Paris.

I do fully understand that with these gifted dancers, every ticket at Palais Garnier was completely sold out long long time ago. I should have wished that the company has been playing double as many performances this season of Ballets Russes.

Another prowe of the companys quality, and how large the company the have in Paris, is that at the same time Rudolf Noureyevs and Peter Tchakovskys Nutcracker is being played at Opera Bastille.

Starting the evening with the romanticism of The Specter of the rose choreography Mikhail Fokine, set and costumes by Leon Bakst, music by Carl Maria von Weber. Delicious danced with the handsome Mathias Heymann superb as Le Spectre and Isabelle Ciaravola as The Young Girl.

Followed by the eroticism of The Afternoon of a Faun with the delicious music by Claude Debussy, choreographed by Vaslav Nijinski and againwith Leon Bakst set and costumes. Nicolas Le Riche was outstanding as The Faune, and his Nymphe was Emilie Cozette.

The Three-Cornered Hat to Manuel de Fallas Spanish flaouvered music choreographed by Leonide Massine, set andcostumes by Pablo Picasso where the mezzo-soprano part was sung by Andrea Hill. As Le Meunier we enjoyed Jose Martinez and as his wife Marie-Agnes Gillot, as allways this couple at the very top level.

The fantastic evening remembering Les Ballets Russes ended with the tragic festivities of Petrouschka to the famous music by Igor Stravinsky, in act some of the music by Stravinsky which I find really amusing and enjoyable, awhich are giving me the Market place feeling, choreographed by Mikhail Fokine and to Alexandre Benois set and costumes. In the leading roles we enjoyed as Petrouchka Benjamin Pech
. The Doll Clairemarie Osta, The Maure Yann Bridard and as the Charlatan Stephan Phavorin.

One hundred years after the first season of the Ballets Russes, these celebrated works, presented in the unsurpassable original choreography, are testimony to what was and remains an audacious artistic adventure. The evening was like a dream.

The audience enjoyed The Stars, Principal dancers and corps de Ballet, and Paris Opera Orchestra conducted by Vello Pahn.

Exposition Ballets Russes

At the same time at Palais Garnier the audience can enjoy Exposition Ballets Russes which opened November 24th and is being presented with last day May 23th 2010.  See our special reportage about that with photos at: www.kulturkompasset.com/
