A marvellous play – a great succes for the norwegian comedy.

“Leve posthornet!”, touring Norway from 4th february till easter 2014.O

OSLO/NORWAY:  “Live the posttrumpet” is a melancholy-comical story of Ellinor who works as a communicator-consultant, but is unable to find words for the work she needs to do. She has an identical problem in her personal life. Her embarrasing silence with her boyfriend Stein demonstrates her unability to even find words for her feelings for him.

A turning point comes with a crisis in the consultant burau she runs with two male friends when one of them just empties his computer and leaves the country. Ellinor has to take over his task of helping the union of postal-emplyees to create a campaign against the implementation of EUs 3rd post-directive in Norway. The threat is sosial dumping and russian mailmen taking over the daily delivery of mail in northern Norway

. The aim is to win the Labour-party for their cause. (The campaign against this 3rd directive is based on reality).

From a world of shallow journalism Ellinor meet with the possible “victims” of this 3rd directive from Brüssel. Real people whith a heart for other people and the importance of service and humanity. Slowly she gets a grasp of a genuine language both for her private and professional life.

The novel, “Leve posthornet!” by Vigdis Hiort is a recommended success in its own
. But this stageversion, directed by Marit Moum Aune, gave me an even deeper understanding of Ellinor, her boyfriend, and the complex power of a “mere” directive !
Aune uses physical theatre to express emotions. She has chosen a variety of means to substitute the litterary descriptions of the book, which, in my opinion, makes the theatrical experience of Ellinors story even more rich

. Aune is creatively aided by two female dramaturgs, a great team of scenography, sound- and light-design and choreography. All takes place in a dynamic, rytmic continuus, while the brilliant actors work on the carousell-like scenography to move the action geographically.

Director Marit Moum Aune has earlier been merited for her gift for combining comedy and soulfulness in her stage-direction.  “Leve posthornet!” is so far the best I have seen from her. And she has the most talented actors to give both humor and empathy to a story about language and an EU-directive:
Ellinor is played by Anne Ryg, Eindride Eidsvold plays her colleague and Ulla M Broch does several roles in the play. John S. Kristensen plays an old mail-man and Kristian Støvind plays and dances Ellinors boyfriend.

More information about the show can be found at the homepage of Riksteatret: www.riksteatret.no
This brilliant stage-version of a merciless reality, imposed on the members of EU (unless the government protests as did the norwegian government as a result of the campaign against the directive) – could, translated,  awake an interest for the international stage? (We are all in the same EU-boat).
