Les Arts Décoratifs is organising the first exhibition retracing the history of contemporary fashion, in two parts
. The project began last autumn with the publication of ‘An Ideal History of Contemporary Fashion’, and is continuing in a different dimension with two consecutive exhibitions. . Elle pose la question du style de Chéret qui, tout en se référant à une tradition néo-rococo, pose les premiers éléments de la modernité qui fascinera tant les impressionnistes. Mobilier, éléments de décor peint, estampes murales, cartons de tapisseries, portraits et dessins côtoient, dans une scénographie de Nestor Perkal, affiches de théâtre et de cirque, affiches commerciales, couvertures de livre, cartes et programmes publicitaires.
